Define It.
While writing my new book, “Between Sun and Rain,” a friend asked me, “what is the most important part in your book?” After some thought, I narrowed it down. Clearly, plot is important. It’s what drives the story. But for me, setting and character are equally important. This story takes place in a tiny southern town, and the characters are who they are because of this. Like in life, setting and character are often intertwined. So for me, it was essential for me to capture the complexity and poignancy of the relationships between friends and families in this small town.
